An Interview with Floor Coverings International

I've always thought of my corner here in the blogosphere as a pretty humble little space, so you can imagine my surprise when I was contacted for an interview with Floor Coverings International. They've featured some pretty talented designers and DIY-ers on their own blog!

Head over to Floor Coverings International to read the full interview -- you might just learn something you didn't know about me!

Happy reading!

I've got sunshiiine... on a cloudy day

Please forgive my terrible singing.

It's taken me awhile to get around to this, but thanks to Kristi @ Life at the Chateau Whitman and Nellie @ McCarthy Designs for bestowing the Sunshine Award upon me! It definitely brightened my day, as the name would suggest. :)  Oh, and my sister over at The Yellow Front Door also gave me the award, but she probably feels obligated to. ;) Anyway, I have to admit I don't feel very deserving of an award, considering how little time I've been able to spend blogging lately (more on that below.) But regardless, thanks to these lovely ladies for thinking of me, and you should go check out their awesome blogs!

I'm supposed to pass this along to 12 other blogs that I enjoy reading. Not easy to pick just 12, but here goes (in no particular order, mind you):
1. House Notes

Back to the whole neglecting my blog thing.... Work has been super-busy lately, and it's only going to get worse over the next couple weeks. Then I'll be out out of town for a week (also for work). Therefore I'm going to be taking a break from blogland for a little while. *sniff*  I am really looking forward to May. The weather will be warmer, life will be a little less hectic, and we can finally get some more projects done around the house! Like what, you ask? Well, here's a little teaser...

- Painting our front door
- Adding some personality to our boring bathroom
- Working on our landscaping
- Laying a brick sidewalk
- Maybe even getting started on our unfinished basement??

Also, I'll post some pictures of the trees and shrubs that we planted last fall -- they're finally starting to turn green and grow buds, and I'm VERY excited about it! So until next time.... happy April and happy blogging! And to quote the Glass Tiger song: "Dooon't forget me when I'm gone..."

I'm super-excited because I just found out that our little "hole in the wall" project was featured on the awesome Better After! (Thanks, Lindsay!) If you haven't checked out this blog before, you should - you'll see some amazing and inspiring transformations!

Blog Love

My ego is swelling with pride. Why, you ask? Well, I was just presented with my very first blog award! This is probably not a big deal to most of you, but it made my day! In fact, not just one, but two lovely ladies bestowed upon me the Happy 101 Award.

Thanks to Hip House Girl and http://www.thriftylittleblog.com/ for sharing the love! These are two blogs that I frequent often and get lots of great ideas from.

So as the protocol goes, here are ten random things that make me happy:
1. Sitting out on our deck on a warm, sunny day (Dear Spring: Please return soon. I miss you.)
2. Tropical, fruity drinks (strawberry dacquiris, pina coladas, etc.)
3. Our crazy cat Phoebe (you'll learn all about her one of these days)
4. The feeling I get after a good house-cleaning
5. Target (hellooo, clearance rack!)
7. NBC Thursday - The Office and 30 Rock
8. Weekends
9. When I occasionally beat my husband Luke at ping-pong (he's really good at everything, and really competitive)
10. Luke. The truth is, I'd be pretty much helpless without him, especially when it comes to big  home improvement projects. The boy knows his stuff

As you can see from my list over there on the left, there are a lot of house blogs that I check out on a regular basis. They're all fab, but I tried to pick only ten that really inspire me - I can hardly keep up with all their nifty projects!  (If you're reading this and have already received this award - as I'm sure many of you have - don't feel obligated to post it again :)

1. Design-A-Holic
2. Life with the Whitmans
3. Tearing Up Houses
4. Hennessy House
5. Russet Street Reno
6. The Yellow Front Door
7. Welcome to my humble ablog!
8. The Newlyweds' Paradise
9. Transforming Home
10. Chic Little House

Thanks to everyone for making my blogging experience so much fun! I'm signing off now before I get too emotional and carried away. ;)
