So when one of our friends brought his dog to visit yesterday (who, by the way, looks like Dudley's long-lost brother... I should have taken pictures!), I was really looking forward to it. Why? Because last night, he looked like this:
(Please excuse his lack of dignity when it comes to exposing his privates.)
And one day later, Dudley is still affected from a long day of playing. Oh sure, he's been moving around a lot. But only to end up like this:
And this:
And this:
And of course, this:
And I've been able to do the things I need to get done today, without having him barking at me incessantly. It's been glorious.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm starting to think that Mr. Dudley could use a brother or sister. My initial thought is that it would be twice the work for us... but would it actually be less work if they both wore each other out like this?
Pure craziness, or brilliant logic? You tell me.
It's true! Two dogs will wear each other out... awesome!
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way when I had one dog. I must say, it did help with having a play mate, but it is double the work and vet bills. With that said, I would take on double the work and vet bills any day to have my babies!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I've heard it both ways. Since my dog is pretty mellow, I'll stick to one. But if I had your dog, I would seriously consider it! You would probably want to get another semi-rambunctious dog though- older and more mellow dogs will just ignore a puppy and get annoyed, instead of doing its job of wearing him out. Can't wait to see what you decide! Oh and also, do you have a dog park in the area? It's kind of an effort to drive to one for some play time, but if it buys you a couple days of sleepy time it could be worth it!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are hilarious. And, yes, we had the same experience. Believe it or not, Franco is actually much better now iwth a sister. But, that's not saying much since he's a demon.
ReplyDeleteWe recently added a second dog to our crazy little circus, and it's been an interesting change. Our first pup (Shalai) INSTANTLY mellowed out. Which we never thought was possible. However, there's now constant wars over bones, love and food, and we've had to put all other toys away because of some fights. I hope that doesn't sound negative, because we really do love it. It's more chaotic, but we wouldn't trade pup #2 (Beemer) for the world. We love having two dogs!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant logic, seriously. Gidget is sooooo much happier since we brought Dozer home. And we could never live without him now.
ReplyDeleteI love having multiple dogs, although none of them are as high energy as Dudley :)
ReplyDeleteThat is one pooped pup. ;) He is such a cutie. Thanks for the visit!
